Technology Student Health And Safety

Technology Student Health And SafetyHealth and Safety in ICT (Information and Communications Technology) is mostly about understanding how to work safely with computers and environments with lots of technology equipment. This can be relevant to industry and also schools.

Technology safety is the concept that everyone should have the right to use technology without harm or harassment. The Safety Net Australia project at WESNET supports this goal through providing a wide range of resources and materials for survivors of technology-facilitated abuse.

Examples of technological hazards may include;
  • Industrial Pollution
  • Nuclear Radiation
  • Toxic Wastes
  • Dam Failures
  • Transportation Accidents
  • Factory Explosions
  • Fires
  • Chemical Spills.

Related: How Technology Help Business

Industrial Pollution

Pollution whose source originates directly from industry is known as industrial pollution. After the Industrial Revolution, manufacturing and technology made advances, which resulted in more factories and more industry. These factories emitted smoke into the air.

Nuclear Radiation

Nuclear radiation (also called ionising radiation) is energy released as high-speed charged particles or electromagnetic waves. Radiation can come from many sources, both natural and manufactured. All living things are constantly exposed to low doses of radiation from rocks, sunlight and cosmic rays.

At high doses, ionizing radiation can cause immediate damage to a person’s body, including, at very high doses, radiation sickness and death. At lower doses, ionizing radiation can cause health effects such as cardiovascular disease and cataracts, as well as cancer

Toxic Wastes

Toxic waste is considered poisonous, radioactive, explosive, carcinogenic (causing cancer), mutagenic (causing damage to chromosomes), teratogenic (causing birth defects), or bioaccumulative (that is, increasing in concentration at the higher ends of food chains).

The waste can contain chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, dangerous pathogens, or other toxins. Even households generate hazardous waste from items such as batteries, used computer equipment, and leftover paints or pesticides

Dam Failures

Dams can fail for a number of reasons, including overtopping caused by floods, acts of sabotage, or structural failure of materials used in dam construction.

Transportation Accidents

A “transport accident” is defined as an incident directly caused by the driving of a motor car or motor vehicle, a railway train or a tram. To be entitled to compensation the person’s injury must also be directly caused by the driving of a motor vehicle, a railway train or a tram.

Factory Explosions

In chemical plants and refineries, the production of gases, heat buildup, and the resulting chemical reactions create the perfect environment for devastating explosions to occur. Some of the most common triggers leading to these explosions include; Violation of safety regulations.

Chemical Spills

Chemical spills commonly result from the unsafe handling of chemicals, improper chemical storage, chemical storage tank ruptures, improper containers for chemical disposal, and failure to dispose of chemicals in a timely manner.

Benefits Of Health and Safety in Technology

  • With proper technology for safety in the workplace, employees are more productive and happier due improved environments and improved health.
  • As well as improving employee morale,
  • Safety Tech ultimately reduces the number of incidents, injuries and fatalities within a business.
  • Safety monitoring, reporting, and training are some of the ways technology can help in this respect.
  • What’s more, technology can increase employees’ awareness of the work environment and all the potential dangers.
  • Another way technology improves workplace safety is via high-speed communication.

For Students;

  • Provides A More Engaged Learning Environment. …
  • Prepares Students for the Future
  • Connects Better with Student
  • Boosts Collaboration
  • Supports Learning
  • Virtual Field Trips
Health and safety training can help create a safer work environment where students and employees are better able to focus on their tasks without the worry of their personal safety. This enhanced focus will lead to a higher work output and better-quality products, ultimately increasing productivity and profits.
